Extremely Sad and Incredibly Charming — 2 years ago
This book is so incredibly charming, funny, horribly horribly sad, intensely touching and original. I actually sobbed out loud on more than one occasion.
The story of a young boy who lost his father in the September 11th incidents, it traces a long path through greif and love and acceptance and loss. With intriguing parallels to the bombing in Dresden and a whole cast of lovable and hurt characters, the book captured my heart from page one.
It’s one of those ‘experimental’ novels, relying on unusual layouts, photographs, and the like, but I wouldn’t let that put you off, even if it’s not usually your thing. The story, that’s what matters.

Hm...
I don’t know. I’m pretty flexible with regards to challenging books, unusual structures, the whole nine yards.
I love a book that keeps me on my toes.
