Filling in the Blanks — 1 year ago
I came to the “Strangers With Candy” party a bit late, but after some initial awkwardness, it clicked and I became a fan. So I eagerly anticipated the release of the feature film, which was delayed several times. But during the Atlantic Film Festival one of the late-night screenings was “Strangers With Candy” so I went wondering if my anticipation would result in disappointment. But that wasn’t the case and watching it with mainly fans late at night was a lot of fun. But the density of the film combined with the laughter resulted in many jokes being missed. So now with the DVD release I can watch it again and again as I follow the story of Jerri Blank as she goes back to high school.
It’s funny, offensive and filled with great comic performances. I still laugh and am surprised by the boldness of the film.
