Not the best film in the world — 1 year ago
I wasnt all that impresswed with this film, although everyone I had spoken too recommended it with much praise. . . I hate to say it, but they must not be the brighter bulbs in the chandlier. . . this movie was boring, some of the twists were predictable, easy to figure out early on and the ending well, it was just and ending. . . i wasnt impressed with any of the preformances to be honest and well. . . i definetly wouldn’t waste my time or money to see it again.
I think that the illusionist had much more atmosphere, was slightly less predictable, had a better female lead and overall caputred my attntion and held it much firmly than this movie. . .
so, its ok, but it wasnt the best film, if you just want to pass some time folding laundry and want a movie int he background this one is good for it. . .

interesting. can i ask which one you saw first? i saw the illusionist first, yet i thought it was much more predictable and formulaic than this film. just a bit more easy to follow and simple-minded. this one left you to still figure out exactly how he did the trick. all im saying is that i had a conversation about this movie immediately afterwards, but not after the illusionist.

Actually I also saw the illusionist first. I pretty much new from the start that there had to be a “twin” element to the prestige somehow.
I thought the characters in the illusionist were more beleivable, had more depth to them. . .
everyone has their opinions. . .:) but I found The Prestige to just be easier for me to predict then the the Illusionist and the charcters in the illusionist gave me much more to talk about after the movie. . .
hey like i said to each their own :)
