  • Plot: Fairly standard story about the night of a high school graduation party and outsiders hoping to lose their virginity. Reminded me of Can’t Hardly Wait. The story lags in certain segments, particularly those involving the two cops. The scene related to Seth’s childhood sketches caused the audience to roar, though.
  • Dialogue: Snappy but unexceptional. The movie derives a lot of its humor and shock value from having high schoolers speak about women and sex in terms that you might associate with dockworkers.
  • Acting: Jonah Hill and Michael Cera complement each other well and demonstrate a strong rapport. The scene in which they express their affection for each other is both bold and sweet. Hill is a very assured comic actor who will do well in future roles. I wonder if his weight and appearance will restrict his opportunities…I can see him as a new Zero Mostel.
  • Other: A little bit of Bill Hader goes a long way.
