This is the worst pile of shit I have ever read — 30 weeks ago
I have no idea why anyone likes this pile of puke called a novel. I persisted, with the ever dwindling hope that so many people can’t be so wrong, and now, having finished it, I’m qualified to say they are wrong, there is no novel here. This book is more like a bad outline for a bad novel, with irrelevant chapters left in and the relevant ones never sculpted into anything interesting. Each chapter – sometimes each paragraph – stands almost alone with only very tenuous connections to the rest of the “plot”. After finishing a chapter, you’ll need to go read the summary of the novel on wikipedia so that you know what you’ve read. Other novels, like Naked Lunch, have done this successfully, but Naked Lunch had humor. Not Gravity’s Rainbow. You can tell that the author thinks he has a sense of humor and is trying to be funny, but like an annoying Will and Grace type sitcom, it all just comes across as extremely irritating.
