what a perfect summer beach book — 13 weeks ago
shahira dropped this into my bag thinking it was laura’s. i had adamantly told laura i didn’t want to read this book. it just didn’t sound interesting to me. what a gem. this is the typical summer beach book. the chapters are short, at most 5 pages, the pace is quick, characters like-able, and you just can’t seem to put it down. i found myself thinking, “just one more chapter”, many, many times. when the juror bus blew-up i found myself gasping and calling laura to find out if they all died. i was sure that andie did not because there was some foreshadowing of her and pellisante ending up together; which they did. patterson does his research, which is refreshing. some similarities to the sopranos and to john gotti which i was proud i recognized. i wasn’t particularly happy about the ending, but it was easily overlooked. i even looked online at real estate in haifa, israel.
