A story about this — 1 year ago
“A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience.”
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes
I will probably incur the wrath of our current administration and my bank accounts, phone, and computer use will be spied upon, but, never-the-less I believe that the military’s plans to return control of Iraq to the Iraqi people is entirely lacking purpose. In addition, the actions that they take on a daily basis are not only feeble and ineffective, but seem to be taking backward steps. I could sum it up by saying that the President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense are completely feckless. Just tonight it was announced that another helicopter was shot down and all seven on board were killed. The military also released the names of ten troops who died this week. I don’t see how any of this is helping bring democracy to the Middle East. Since we never asked the residents of Iraq if they wanted democracy and they never approached our government to help them realign their political structure, I wonder how much longer we can continue this violent farce.
