WORTH CONSUMING!

I wouldn’t say it’s worth it, if there was no programmer. But there was one! And he was cute, actually.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Quite enjoyable. Even Terry Bradshaw buff naked didn’t put me off it. In fact he had a few really good one-liners (“After I show you how to throw a deep out, I’ll show you how to ice your arm”). McConaughey and Parker played their parts well: Two sexy people avoiding their obvious attraction. Kathy Bates is her usual good self, afraid too let go of her son because life alone with her retired husband is unknown territory. I liked the subplot “To Kill A Mockingbird” and the pace is fine; moves right along without and snooze alarm required. Romantic comedies, as a genre, are hard to dislike. This is as good as most, if nothing exceptional. Watch it for a little comic relief.

Surprisingly good — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Okay, I am having rating issues. I think I am too generous with my 3 star ratings because this isn’t as good as most things I rate 4 stars but it’s better than most 3’s. I should probably expand into the 5’s and 1’s. Anyway…

This is a surprisingly funny movie. It’s a relatively predictable romantic comedy at the core, but there are a few elements that take it beyond that. First, Kathy Bates is the mother and does a great job, Second, and more importantly, is the female roommate character. She is quirky and dark and really makes the story more interesting and unique.

Furthermore, this movie made me lough out loud more than once, which is unusual. I recommend it as a fun comedy to enjoy alone or with your sweetie.

Fun Romantic Flick — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Being a romantic comedy, it’s not especially original. But it is lots of fun.

Terry Bradshaw needs to make more movies — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I hate football, but I love Terry Bradshaw. This movie would have failed without Terry Bradshaw and Kathy Bates.

Cute story, the ending fell a little flat, but overall it was good for a mindless 2 hours of entertainment.

I liked Failure To Launch WAY better than The Family Stone. However I stand firm in my opinion that SJP looked better before her nose job, hair lightening, weight loss and mole enhancement. I much prefer her “Square Pegs” look to her Carrie look.

Two thumbs WAY UP for Terry Bradshaw who hadn’t made a movie in 20+ years! He was hilarious!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m not one for romantic comedies really, and I really only saw the last half of this movie. But what I saw I liked! It was funny and cute, and interesting, though the end was insanely cheesy, I still would like to finish it someday :-P

A Classic Tale of Pushey--Pulley — 2 years ago

Even though this was touted as a romantic comedy, for some reason the premise of this movie didn’t sit well with me and I refused to see it in the theatre. When given the chance to review it on here, I jumped at it, even though my initial wariness was still there.

The plot is as close to what you see in the trailers, and without leaving any spoilers the story ends in your normal Hollywood ending. There wasn’t much drama or excitement, but then again, it’s a rom-com, so what do you expect? The ends were tied up very neatly and the plot leaves you satisfied with the ending. I felt that the whole angst part went on for waaaay too long. “Tripp, get over yourself already,” I kept wanting to say! As for Paula (SJP), her pity party went on for way too long. It’s really not that serious considering everything else going on in relationships to factor how they met as such a colossal and monumental catastrophe. Jeez. Cry me a river.

The storyline actually reminds me acutely of Hitch but without the funny aspect that Kevin James & Will Smith brought to that movie. Don’t get me wrong, there were some moments that were definitely funny, but I felt that the humor was contrived and over-done. The whole “nature is against you” theory was a creative way to throw in laughs but felt to me kind of off.

I thought the actors showed much substance in their acting, and Sarah J. Parker did her thing! Even the sub-characters were very well developed and played integral parts in the story. The overall acting was very cohesive. There is alot of drool worthy moments in both Bradley Cooper and Matthew’s visage without a doubt.

The DVD features alot of extra features thrown in there to be worth you while. There are several funny clips with the actors in Real Time and an expose that explains the Failure to Launch pheomenon.

If you liked Hitch, Wedding Planner or How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days then this is definitely another one to add to your collection.
