I’m perpetually shocked that this book isn’t practically mandatory in the US. It is breath-taking in every way. Personally, I consider this something to be read whenever I need to be reminded how to live. It’s classic in so many ways, and one of the few female heroes I’ve come across in literature worthy of using as inspiration in my own life.

One of the best; one of the ABSOLUTE best; I have also read other books by her including her autobiography, and find them quite engaging; I plan to get the DVD on this as well.

I am a Hurston FANATIC, so I can never say anything bad about her work.

I’m presenting a paper on this book in comparison with Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It. I think the book is much better, to be honest.
