Good, well-paced plot and decent characterization, but I expected much more from the prose, since King supposedly spent a lot more time on this than his other, more hackish stuff. Also, I was led to believe that it would be a lot more dense and allusory, but most of the allusions have been pretty obvious and trite. Not bad, but not quite as good as I had hoped. King strikes me as someone who writes too much, and doesn’t read enough.
