This is quite possibly the best anthology of film theory out there. Sure, it’s huge and intimidating, but where else are you going to find such influential essays unless you seek out each author’s individual book?

It’s a good read for film students, but it’s best read in the context of a film theory course, since a lot of these theorists have some interesting and innovative ideas but their writing is incredibly vague and bland.
