Dating back to the late 1940’s, the screwdriver is said to get its name from American oil workers in Iran who stirred their cocktails with what they had handy – their tools.
The recipe from the International Bartenders Association:
1 part vodka
2 parts orange juice
Pour all ingredients directly into highball glass filled with ice. Stir gently. Garnish with orange slice.
