WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t think I’d like this movie. I’d heard about the plot and figured it would be platitudinous and message ridden. I think it was Roger Ebert’s review that persuaded me to watch it. It’s really very well done. Some of the characters might have been stereotypical in other hands but these were all well-rounded and surprising (in a positive way) characters. Bravo, Doug Atchison!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I wanted to see it when it first came out but didn’t, so waited until it came to video, and it was worth it; I loved it! I loved the willingness of Akeelah to let Dylan win; and how his father jumped up and cheered for her in the end! but the stuff his father put him through was just rough; I was glad he won and she did too. God is always good.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a great “feel good” film that is well-acted and well put together. Starbucks’ involvement as a producer is a little odd, but it has no discernible impact on the movie (only on the marketing). I recommend this one.
