I watched it with a friend this weekend… and pretty much forgot about it an hour later. It wasn’t bad, but to me it was completely unremarkable.

Fluffy, silly, cute. A wonderful companion piece to Twentynine Palms. (Before anyone takes that seriously and views Twentynine Palms, please don’t, I’m kidding.)

I thought it was cute, but not something I’d watch more then once. I’m not sure that hugh grant and drew barrymore were a “realistic” coupling. . . they just seemed to not match well. . . I think she had much better chemistry with Adam SAndler and Jimmy Fallon. . . but it wa ok for a friday night girls night movie.

Cute. Entertaining, and nothing dark (or substantial) at all. I’m not a big fan of Hugh Grant, but he does have a boyish charm that gets to you, even while playing a has-been pop-star. Good pairing with Drew Barrymore as the reluctant plant-watering lyricist. The movie is also a laudable send-up of pop divas, with no apologies to Britney, Beyonce, Christina, et alia. See it with someone who enjoys a good giggle.

This certainly wasn’t the greatest film in the world, and I’m not planning on going out and buying it, but for a chick flick I really enjoyed it. It was cute and surprisingly funny. I adore Hugh Grant (every time he did that little “pop” move I cracked up) and Drew Barrymore’s character was really likeable and sympathize-able.

I’m not much of a chick flick person, but I really liked this movie. Though I never pictured Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore going together, I really found myself caring about this couple for some reason.
For once I liked the female main character, she was adorable. Hugh Grant played a wonderful 80’s has-been star. Though I can see why people wouldn’t like it, I thought it was adorable and the writing was quite amusing (aside from the lyrics themselves, which were pretty bad.)

The movie is okay, and by that score is perhaps worth watching (but for all intensive purposes is a waste of time). Drew is always adorable and Hugh is always at least semi-entertaining, both of which partially make up for the rather lack-luster chemistry and bad lyrics. But even with their star power, the movie just doesn’t make the cut (onto my DVD shelf).
