I loved Lahiri’s writing style, especially her descriptions; they were crafted lovingly without being distracting or taking me out of the story. Very satisfying & I hope she writes lots more.

I would totally recommend this book. It struck me first because of the excellent writing of Lahiri and second because of the story. Gogol’s experiences seem both mundane and extraordinary, and I enjoyed that much of the book focused on a time in his life I can relate to.

I enjoyed the first half. I cried through the second half. This is a touching novel about family, friends, and love; it has excellent character development. It is also prompting me to add The Overcoat to my queue.

This was a nice story and the narration was pleasant. It was much more character than plot-based. I would read another one of Jhumpa Lahiri’s books.

This is a story about an East Indian family living in America. I’m listening to it as a book on tape.

Lahiri’s writing style is impeccable; everything flows smoothly and she makes her point in a way that any reader can understand.

If this book is half as good as Interpreter of Maladies, then I’m in for a real treat.
