WORTH CONSUMING!

This is about the 3rd or 4th time I have read this book and it always fills me with motivation and inspiration for writing. I love the bit where ‘Carrie’ is sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars – very uplifting.
King’s enthusiasm for his craft is infectious and the section on his life and what inspired/inspires him to write are also very interesting. One I will re-read at many points in my life I’m sure. Worth a read!!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Part writing memoir, part advice to wannabe writers, part tale of recovery, Stephen King’s ode to the writing life is well worth a read for any fiction writer who needs a little dose of inspiration. Oh sure, he says what’s been said before (Read lots, watch your style, edit out the fat) but he does it in a way that brings a lot of it into the kind of focus a more traditional writing advice book might not.

I’m glad I finally picked it up. Even if it’s so I can just remember, when I lament my shortage of story ideas, that it all boils down to what if.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I did a degree in Creative Writing and this book was our textbook in the first year. It’s the only textbook I’ve ever read again. In fact I try to make a point of reading it once a year.

King has some excellent advice on writing. It shows in his earthy, to-the-point style. The unmistakable joy he takes in writing leaks through. Yet throughout he makes it clear that it’s only his advice, something to consider. You don’t have to take it.

I found his life equally fascinating and though I would have liked to read more, I also liked the fact that he tried to relate only that which had a bearing on his writing.

I’m not a book writer, but songwriter. Most of what he writes in this book applies.

I loved this book, it had some things I already knew and others I didn’t, I think it is an excellent resource for anyone interested in writing.

WORTH CONSUMING!

There have been very few books on writing, or for wannabe writers, as a lot of people belive that writers (i mean good writes) are born and not made. In search of some good books on writing I got my hand on SK On Writing by Stephen King. No, he is not talking about how to write horror/suspense stories. He goes into the finer details of writing.

If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.

I learned quite a bit from this book. I have the audio book so I can listen to it in my car over and over again. And yes, it’s worth it.

One of the most prolific writers says some pretty great stuff about writing. One of the things I took away from this reading was the mantra “tell the truth.” Even if it is fiction, always tell the truth.

I really enjoyed this book. A treatise on writing and a memoir all in one. I liked it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Certainly an interesting look into how Stephen King writes, and a little bit of biography on the author as well.
