WORTH CONSUMING!

I love almost everything Neil Gaiman, but I didn’t enjoy this as much as Smoke and Mirrors. There were many good stories, but a handful that I could’ve done without. I’m not saying this isn’t worth reading… I just wish my expectations had been slightly lower. Sunbird was the highlight, in my opinion.

...not worth it, sadly.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that only one piece was new; I’d already read many of the pieces in other collections.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Like the last Gaiman collection I read (Midnight Days), Fragile Things is okay, but not great. Certain stories have great appeal, notably A Study in Emerald, which I thought was the stand-out piece in the work. It seemed like I most enjoyed the stories that obviously referenced stories I was familiar with – The Problem of Susan was another piece that I really enjoyed, even if the end was a little more risque than strictly necessary. Ah well, overall it was quite enjoyable – probably buying material, even if I won’t pick it up for full hardcover price.
