It started out even better than The Eyre Affair. I was giggling and delighted… until the plot started getting going. Once the main conflict for the rest of the book is established, the book continues to slide downhill steadily until the disappointing and baffling ending. I was almost bored to tears by most of the Jurisfiction stuff, but the few bright spots of hilarity and brilliant-strangeness were almost enough to make up for it.

Finished the book…doesn’t end quite as well as the first one…really open ended and kinda dumb. Still a good book, I grant, but not as good as The Eyre Affaire.

This is my least favourite in the entire Thursday Next series, but even the worst Thursday book is better than anything else, ever.

So it turns out that I had to return this to the library before I had a chance to finish it. But I recently bought it; I’m going to reread The Eyre Affair and then go back to this one!

A really good read, looking forward to more from Thursday Next… kind of wish I’d written that character
