weird, but worth watching — 7 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you make sure to appreciate the strangeness for what it is, you’ll enjoy this much more than if you expect it to be a laugh-outright comedy. And I agree with the other person who said Mark Wahlberg’s character is hilarious.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I LOVED Mark Wahlberg’s character. It made the movie for me. FANTASTIC. It’s why I watched it a second time.

I actively hated almost everyone else in it. I think maybe I was supposed to?

It’s a fantastic movie to watch once, and I would recommend everyone see it, but I don’t think I could own it and watch it over and over.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m still deciding how much I liked this. I think my first impression is that it’s definitely worth watching once, but it’s not the kind of thing I could watch again and again. Interesting. Maybe if I’d taken Existentialism I’d understand it better, haha…but there was something compelling and charming about it despite its somewhat out-there-ness. (‘Cause, you know, that’s a word.)

Enigmatic, philosophical, zany, provocative. It’s got an all-star ensemble, with Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin playing a pair of “Existential Detectives” investigating a series of coincidences for a client (Jason Schwartzman). Jude Law, Mark Wahlberg, Naomi Watts… even a cameo by Shania Twain playing herself; it’s certainly got starpower, but the plot runs all over the screen, the dialog is dense, and it raised a few ZZZ’s for me about two-thirds of the way through. It’s as if Director David O. Russell invited you to share a dream/nightmare with the cast. It has it’s moments, but I give it one thumb sideways.

WORTH CONSUMING!

For those who haven’t seen it yet, the movie I Heart Huckabees is pure genius. It’s bold, witty and all eccentric eclectic like but not without some beautiful depth. I absolutely loved it, in fact I was in a moment of love watching the movie.

I can’t say that the movie exactly touched me deeply so, but I sure as hell wanted to stand up and clap at the end of it. It was that touch of light profundity mixed in with poking humor. I highly recommend that everyone watch it at least once. And if you watched What the Bleep and liked it but maybe even found it lacking, this is it… the genius that was present in this movie has not been matched.

As far as the acting goes, that was also wonderfully done, I could not have asked for anything more. Mark Wahlberg was the most surprising. :)

Mmm… the parts, the whole, ahh but the juicy details of the parts… the entire thing! It was oh so good.
