WORTH CONSUMING!

I think Spoon is incapable of making bad music, and every album they make gets better and better. Gimme Fiction flirts more with prog-rock than their other releases, which isn’t to my taste, but it’s still a spectacular album. If you don’t love “The Beast and Dragon, Adored,” you have no soul.

WORTH CONSUMING!

... unless the short-form brilliance of tight, succinct, writers like the Davies brothers, the young Pete Townsend, Bowie, yes, even John and Paul, were’nt songs.

I’m amazed that 4 guys in Austin TX can recall the essence of some the best English bands in the 60’s, and still sound so contemporary.

I’ve read that there isn’t a song on all of GF, just a collection of short musical ideas or extended hooks, and I’d have to agree. My attitude toward it went from being lukewarm to highly receptive to wholly uninterested in just over two weeks.
