WORTH CONSUMING!

Very few programming books have been revolutionary to me (OK, maybe it’s just this one. The authors of this book make it easy to understand the way rails works so well as an agile web development framework. Granted, after reading a few pages I had to go buy the Pickaxe book because I was a ruby virgin, but that’s all for the better. This is the kind of book that I would read all over again, just to pick up more.

I can’t wait to read the upcoming version 2 (on Rails 1.1)

I liked the format—driving through a demo app for the first half and then nailing down the details in the second half. Having the searchable PDF and the browsable paper version gave me access while coding and while in “learn-only” mode.

Today I got my paper copy of the book. So maybe now I’ll start consuming this a bit quicker.

I’ve been getting the betaPDF files, but I still cannot just sit and read a book on the screen. I like having the PDF for quick reference purposes, but if I’m going to read it cover to cover it has to be in paper form.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Just purchased the PDF beta yesterday. Just started on Ruby and Rails last Friday. Still pretty much a newbie here. I hope to be able deploy my first application in, oh, 3 months?

WORTH CONSUMING!

I just downloaded my copy of the “beta book” PDF. I’m looking forward to spending some time going through the book. I’ve done some pretty advanced things with Rails already, but it will be nice to brush up again on the basics and learn some of the new features of the framework.

I can’t wait until the finished book ships later this year.
