I really wanted to like The L Word and I had high hopes for some Showtime produced faire after falling in love with Weeds but…ugh. The L Word has two of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Beals and Pam Grier; it is based, supposedly, in the city I love; and it deals with subject matter that should be fresh and challenging and interesting.

But it’s writers are awfully paint by the numbers and whack and Mia Kirshner’s Crazy Jenny is too much to take. I gave up after 7 episodes and opted to read my friend’s recaps of the series instead.

It just isn’t worth the time.

I’d waited so long to get my hands on the L Word. And because, even though we just got Satellite, I’m still several seasons behind, I had no choice but to drop the $50 on the 1st season.

I brought it home and finished it in one night. I could.not.stop.watching. It was so addictive. I stayed up until eight in the morning because I just seriously could not stop.

And since, I’ve spent the last week going through “ARRGGGH NEED MORE” syndrome and I’m dying to get the 2nd season. It’s fan-fugging-tastic.

sad to say i bought this, watched it, then shrinkwraped in and returned it because i needed the $50, but it was definitely worth it and when i get a job, i’ll probably buy it again and actually keep it this time!

This turned out to be a really interesting series to watch. It started out when my friends wife put it in their netflix queue. My buddy assumed “L” stood for “Love” or some other girl related movie type thing. One day he was working on the computer when his wife popped it in… and hoo ha… he learned what “L” stood for. Now our group of friends and wives love the series. We are working on season 2 now.

They did a good job delving into different areas of the Lesbian culture. Check it out!

Also, the previous comments about Jenny being annoying…very true… and all my friends agree. Pretty to see… but annoying as hell.

My wife and I watched the first couple of episodes, and were turned off by the choppy editing and drama-rama storylines. Also, we found Jenny extremely annoying. I have a hard time believing that she’s a writer, probably because I don’t believe anything else she says!

My new guilty pleasure! I’m trying to stretch out the first season because waiting for the second season will be a grueling feat.
