Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits
On a lurgid bee.

The movie is a bit of a disappointment after having read the HHGTTG several times, but on its own, is mostly harmless. (I’d give it a “C+”) The Vogons were well-portrayed. Mos Def is a natural for Ford Prefect, and Sam Rockwell makes Zaphod Beeblebrox seem hip and out of control.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

HH2G the movie was ok, but was rushed, left lots out, added extra stuff that they invented for the movie, and finished all of a sudden in the middle of nowhere. The TV series was pretty ordinary too. No-one has successfully visualised the story from either the books or the BBC radio series.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was the second time that I’ve seen the film and I enjoyed it both times, probably a bit more the second time because I listened to the radio series before I watched the first time. But it’s a solid and respectful adaptation and it just reinforces the wit and joy that Douglas Adams brought to his creations.

WORTH CONSUMING!

If I’d read the book yesterday, I might be in the mood to quibble over lapses and alterations from the text—as I didn’t, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I am reminded all over again what a wonderful, compassionate genius Douglas Adams was.
