NOT WORTH CONSUMING

If you’re looking for eye candy, you’d be better off buying a poster than watching this. Poor performances from actors who are usually much better than that, and the plot is generic and uninteresting.

Why I recommend this — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can imagine this being pitched to the studio as “War of the Roses” meets “Prizzi’s Honor.” Many have noted the slow start-up pace. Because Jolie and Pitt both play their roles “super cool,” the story lacks in emotional investment. But the action sequences are fun, and there is some nice humor. If this movie needs a label, file it under Romantic Action Comedy. I recommend it to anyone who likes the work of Brangelina. Count me a fan.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Neither action, nor romance and not a thriller. I wonder what makes this movie a top scorer?

Meh — 1 year ago

I wanted to enjoy this, but honestly, I thought it was boring. Not a good thing for an “action” film. yawn

I’ll agree with the comment below, though, that “YOU DO NOT REALIZE” was the funniest moment in the film. I laughed out loud at that one. But the rest of it? I actually got bored and turned it off last night. Then, this evening, I ended up watching the rest of it, just because. I can’t recommend it, though. 5/10

Marriage as an Action Movie — 2 years ago

The central metaphor running through Mr. & Mrs. Smith is very clever and it compares marriage with being an assassin. There are some really neat scenes that have the leads keeping secrets from each other, but then it goes into action mode and starts slavishly following the classic structure, dropping subplots and characters. Brad and Angelina are great to look at and bring a good sense of humour to the film, but the cleverness slowly drains away as the explosions and body count increases.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The only reason someone would watch this movie is to check out Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie. Even with them it was barely tolerable to watch. It was dry & not much happened beside them shooting at each other. I was disappointed.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had seen this before, but B hadn’t, so we watched it together. Brad and Angelina are of course hothothot, and the movie has funny moments. My favorite part of the whole movie is when Vince Vaughn yells, “YOU DO NOT EVEN REALIZE!” Makes me giggle thinking about it…

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Mr. & Mrs. Smith starts out better than expected with a contrived but fun premise (two spies married to one another, but neither knows the other is a spy). It continues along at a good clip and stays pretty enjoyable and sufficiently believable, but in the last quarter it takes a big dive. When we learn the underlying plot line we discover it is completely ludicrious and unbelievable. Further, the final climax is overdone and seems like it would only worsen their problems, not fix them. As these things go it isn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t recommend it either.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Mr and Mrs Smith was a fast paced comedy with more than a touch of humour. A little on the brutal side, there are plenty of genuine comedy moments, and Angelina and Brad certainly warm well to the parts. Reccomended.
