I saw this at the cinema, and it really disappointed me. It’s okay on the tv, where you only half pay attention, but really it just could have been so much better. Like the sequel looks – bring it on!

I’m glad I didn’t give up on this movie after having read the book. I didn’t like Hellboy the comic book (vol. 1) that much. It wasn’t funny, and Abraham is virtually non-existent in this book.
The movie is 1000 times better and there are 4 good reasons:
1. Ron Perlman
2. David Hyde Pierce as Abe
3. John Hurt (the guy could act the phone book and I would watch it!)
4. the humor
5. The Nazis are totally creepy and I like the whole Hitler and his use of the supernatural to win WW2 (see Raiders of the Lost Ark).
Ok- that’s 5 reasons. But what can I say- this movie rocked!

The movie is unable to blend the scifi into fantasy. HellBoy is not as impressive as Spiderman or Superman and the characters are weak.
