WORTH CONSUMING!

I appear to be the only person that found this movie to be quite good. I’m assuming this is due to me never seeing the original, and Tim Robbins being one of my favourite actors, and Dakota Fanning just being…well, Dakota Fanning.

I’m not a fan of Tom Cruise, and his one style of acting that is portrayed in every single film he’s ever made (Saying that, Minority Report is a great film…) but again, I enjoyed the other actors in this film, it ‘almost’ blocks him out.

I’d recommend this to anyone who has a few hours to kill, loves their sci-fi films and isn’t going to be too pissed off if they feel like they’ve ‘wasted time’ watching it.

the things i learned while watching this movie:
1. tom cruise is the dick i thought him to be.
2. even if there’s an alien invasion and huge emp’s happen knocking out every power source you can still video tape it.
3. dakota fanning is an awesome actress.
4. new york will get destroyed every single time. it must cost millions to keep rebuilding this city.
5. good will win no matter the odds.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Omg. I was expecting this movie to be at least as good as the series I’ve watched when I was growing up. But it failed me miserably. No. It’s not because of Tom Cruise. In fact, it was just that bad! As much as Speilberg is one of my idols and who I wish to be one of my mentors, but this is just bad. what happened????

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This was awful. Tom Cruise is not a bad actor in the league of an Ed Wood cast member or anything, but he wasn’t at all believable in this movie as a port worker. And what was up with going to Boston? Yeah, the apocolypse is here, and I want to go to Boston. Lame.

I was shocked when I saw Speilberg directed this dog. He certainly put the bar low for the next remake.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’m not a Tom Cruise fan, but that has nothing to do with my disdain for this horrid remake of War of the Worlds.

Acting in this movie? Meh.

Special effects were the huge draw for this film, but even the special effects, which are Spielberg’s specialty, weren’t that great, unless you prefer alien ships that look like huge barstools.

It was on HBO last night. The special effects were good. Made me jump a couple of times. Otherwise, it’s a complete suspension of the laws of physics, belief, human nature and logic. Thank goodness I didn’t pay anything incremental to see it. I’m not going to say it is unworthy of viewing, but Cruise, Spielberg and even Fanning have all done better. Shame on them. See the original movie, read the H.G. Wells book, or listen to the Orson Wells radio version. No comparison required.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Pretty awful. I sort of expect this from Tom Cruise, but disappointed with Speilberg. The story was very thin, the acting was shouty, especially Dakota Fanning (expect when she was precocious). The father-son relationship was less than 2 dimensional. The only vaguely good thing I can say was the effects were quite good. However, worth avoiding, unless you are a very big Tom Cruise fan.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I’m guessing another reason why this is such an unpopular movie is because of the bad publicity surrounding it. Tom Cruise chose a bad time to go crazy.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Am I the only person who thought the alien tripods or whatever looked a lot like how the monster moved in the Abyss when the armlike part came down into the basement. Just a thought, if that sounds crazy. I thought this movie was full of bad acting and recycled special effect ideas.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I could barely keep awake for half the movie. Enough said.
