If all you know of Liz Phair is her last 2 albums, forgot that before hearing this. On this one, Phair’s emotionally raw and lyrically direct in sometimes painful detail. (The language here is quite “salty” so if you’re a soccer mom or dad this isn’t one you can listen to with Junior in the car.)

Best cuts here are “6ft 1in”,”Never Said”,”F**k and Run” and the smoldering lust of “Flower”. Quite a bit rockier than her, nonetheless it’s obvious that Alanis could never have uttered the line “Would she go down on you in a theater?” if Phair hadn’t paved the way.

This one’s worth hearing and I expect I’ll be buying this one, too.
