I have read numerous fiction books on baseball, and this is one of the best. I congratulate John Ritter on this baseball great.

I found it surprisingly charming, perhaps mainly because it doesn’t try too hard to be original. The plot is pretty predictable, satisfyingly so. Characters are distinctive but not overly eccentric, and there are lots of strong girl characters. Nicely done.
