WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m normally a pretty slow reader, but I just flew through this book in about a week. I found that the pace was just right, and it was easy to read, not getting bogged down in mundane details, but not just action with no motivation either. There are blaring holes in the facts, but as long as you’re open-minded enough to go with it, it’s a really good story. Being a computer science student, with a mild interest in mathematics as well, this book kind of tickled me.

and there is more factual information in this book that can’t be debated than in The Da Vinci Code. Not as good of a plot or story, though.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Whoever said Dan Brown’s a good writer really hasn’t been exposed to literature. Yes, his books are fast paced easy reads. But clever? I don’t think so. There was nothing clever about this book, and there definitely was nothing clever about the Da Vinci Code. It got so famous because of its scandalous claims, not because its author is a genius. If you want GOOD thrillers, read David Baldacci.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this one, will read his other books but he’s no genius.

I’m a computer guy, and not so much of a conspiracy theorist. I didn’t wasn’t really impressed with the book, even though I think it was well written and it was an easy and fast read.

Finished April 29, 2005, just before midnight.

Well, if you’ve read The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, you’ve read it all before. They all start in exactly the same way (someone dies mysteriously, then you introduce the hero and heroine, who are summoned to solve the case, either working together or working from both ends). The plot twists in exactly the same way and you more or less know who must be the “baddie” by the middle of the book.

Nevertheless, this is a nice quick read, even if you’re only reading it to make sure it ends the way you predicted it would. There’s some technical stuff in there that I found pretty interesting, but I’m not sure how accurate it is.

I’m in the mood for a good, intense thriller

Dan Brown’s first book is a story of an attack on the NSA and a seemingly unbreakable code. As with all of his books, there are some “wow” moments, though I’m noticing he seems to follow a particular formula at times. A smart read that is fast-paced and enjoyable.

A good, quick read. Doesn’t get weighed down with technical descriptions.
