A disjointed attempt to make a loveable folk hero out of a psychopath, as we follow him from prison to the streets, and back to prison again.
Like Tarantino without the irony or panache. A film that thinks MTV video FX plus bloody gore and violence equals “controversial” gritty film making. It doesn’t.
The film can’t decide if it’s critiquing the fetishisation of the criminal in celebrity culture or if it’s simply contributing to it.
Good central performance though, from Eric Bana, otherwise this is a bag of toenails.
Avoid.
