A novel about the desperation to fit in, and the sacrifices made in order to do. Surprisingly heartless in many scenes, which Wolfe’s previous books do not share. Still a good read, with an ending which normally would be ‘happy’, but is disturbingly sad.

Trying to get through this book in my last week and a half of book freedom before the semester starts.

Silly in parts but unputdownable.
