WORTH CONSUMING!

An amazing book. Though primarily about cultural misunderstanding in the medical world, I think this book is invaluable for realizing ways to improve any cross-cultural communication. Incredible story. [June 8, 2006 – recommended by Erika]

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Wonderful non-fiction essay on a Hmong family getting treated in the Californian public health system, and the miscommunications that resulted. We say “Where are you coming from?” but we rarely wait for a reply. Fadiman does.
