WORTH CONSUMING!

I like it. When I heard about this book as an interrelated series of short stories, I was hoping for something like Tim Winton’s The Turning. This wasn’t that, but it was still good. A few of the stories were so loosely coupled that I’d say it’s generous to say that they were part of the web, but none of them were bad (although the Russian art theft one was probably my least favourite). The different characters’ voices were sufficiently distinct to maintain interest, and I really enjoyed the Zookeeper story, even if there was a little bit left unexplained there (this was probably intentional, but I’m a lazy reader and find I like things explained more the older I get. Then again, I was pretty sick when I was finishing this book…)

WORTH CONSUMING!

An interesting pan-global look at civilization, the lies we tell ourselves, and the tangled web we weave thereby. And is it possible to reset morality?

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is a work of Science Fiction. But the publishers have decided they want to market it to a different audience, so there’s little clue to its true genre on the cover.

Anyway, it’s a great read.

There’s a tiny bit of crossover with some of the levels of reality in Michell’s, Cloud Atlas.

Very impressive in the end. The final chapters struggled a little under their own weight, but only because they were so amitious. Definitely worthwhile.
