Was curious to read this, and found a free copy floating around at work. Disappointing, badly written, very badly edited. The movie was surprisingly much better.

Bought at Newark airport because I wanted something light to read during my flight back to Amsterdam and I had only a few dollars left…
I ended up with the devil wears Prada, it was indeed a light, chick lit book, not exactly literature, but a pleasant read for someone who’s first language is Dutch.
I visited New-York during my stay in the USA and it is nice to recognize some of the places that are mentioned in the book. It was a good companion during the trip. I would recommend it only for light reading during travel or other situations were one easily gets distracted. The story is not difficult to follow, so distraction is not a problem at all.

I picked this one up hoping for a fun and fluffy chick lit romp…
Unfortunately, I was kind of disappointed. The writing was sloppy (six-year-old fourth-graders, anyone?) and sort of lacklustre. The parts of the plot that didn’t have to do with the evil boss were formulaic and half-assed… I don’t know… There was nothing propelling me to keep reading it.
I can see it being interesting if you had reason to be able to pick out the parties involved, once you knew it was true, and lots of stuff definitely happens, but… yeah. I dunno. It doesn’t really hang together that well and then it just ends, with this implausible tagged on happy ending.

This book was much funnier and more engaging than I expected. I don’t usually enjoy the witty, smart ass, New York chick books. But this one was an exception. In addition to being a well formed and engaging story, the narration of the audio book was well done and perfect for the content. I recommend checking it out for some light reading.

Not exactly great literature, but a fun, light novel. Seems perfectly written for a movie adaptation—a bunch of impossibly glamourous, impossibly bitchy women stalking about in Manolos and never actually doing real work. Tuck it in your beach bag on vacation—it’s a quick read.

I didn’t know it was a movie until I saw it listed here, but it doesn’t suprise me, it is a good movie but is a sucky sucky book,
