A review of "Lore of Running" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This massive book is great for clubbing people over the head between long runs. Lots of information and a few good schedules for marathon and ultra running. Mr Noakes seems like a nice guy, I emailed him at some university in South Africa with a question and he replied. Was friendly and helpful. Good bible for runners.

A review of "Brokeback Mountain (Widescreen Edition)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I thought that this was a very good film, obviously not an upbeat one though, so I wouldn’t watch it on an off day. I would say the theme in this film is universal for both men and women. It is about feeling trapped by love and feeling trapped by the institutional relationships.

I wish this had been a happier film, but at least the stereotype of the gay cowboy film is soon seen to be mistaken.

A review of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

After our school’s crap version of this back in Canada in the 70s this video refreshingly shows how it is done. Filmed in 1998, the singing and acting is brilliant and Donny looks hot!!It definately encourages you to see the stage production and since it is in Manchester Opera House Feb/March I will definately go. The video is so well done, warm and funny, a definate must see.And no ten year olds that can’t sing!!

A question I have about "Cotton Candy" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What is the story about cotton candy being sold ready bagged at fairs in Britain, this must be sacrilegious. How are you supposed to smell it through the plastic?

Why I recommend "The Fisher King" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This film is not so much about the holy grail, really, it is about human emotions, tragedy and the mind’s struggle to recover from the tragedy. It is also a love story. It is a necessity to see if you are a Jeff Bridges fan, he plays the goodlooking shallow dj, and Robin Williams is brilliant as Perry, the medievalesque street bum trying to escape his madness. My favourite scene is still Perry’s serenade in the chinese restaurant…

Why I recommend "And Never Let Her Go: Thomas Capano: The Deadly Seducer" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the second book of Ann Rule’s that I have read, the first being The Stranger Beside Me. I think she is an excellent true crime writer. You learn a lot about people and about how the world works through her books, and I am not sure if it is because it is a woman’s perspective, but she is able to tell you of gruesome crimes in a way so that you will know about them, without it being unbearable.

Why I recommend "The Big Lebowski" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you are a Jeff Bridges fan it is a must see, and John Goodman is great in this. It is rated one of the top 50 films to see. I think this is a film that every guy should see, but yet being female I was in hysterics laughing the first time I saw it. After you see this you will never think of white russians and rugs in the same way again!

Why I recommend "Lost in Translation" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t like this film at all the first time I saw it, I saw it again a year later and then could see why it is voted one of the top 50 must see films.

A review of "Barton Fink" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Poor Barton. When the wall paper starts peeling off the walls on its own things aren’t looking so good. This is another brilliant Cohen brother’s film. John Turturro plays Barton Fink the mild-mannered writer and John Goodman plays Charlie, his hefty neighbour. As Turturro struggles with his futile attempt to write a wrestling picture, he may wish he had never made the trip to LA, or had Charlie knock on his door! No one is madder than John Goodman when he wants to be!! Better have a cold drink handy for the climax of this picture. And what did you think was really in that box anyway??
