WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m about halfway through the book and I’m enjoying it thoroughly. Brookmyre is very caustic, and two of the major characters show it. I can’t say anything better than the blurbs on the book. It’s bitingly smart, incisive, funny, etc etc. Everything a good book should be.

A story about "The Snack Thief: An Inspector Montalbano Mystery (Inspector Montalbano Mysteries)" — 3 years ago

II haven’t read a mystery in ages, and picked this up at the library. And I love it. Montalbano is a great character: very sharp, brash, and a lover of good food. I liked it so much I bought another book in the Montalbano series: The Terra-Cotta Dog.

Another good Montalbano book that had me, by turns, nodding, and laughing aloud in the café where I was reading this.

Another great Montalbano book. What can I say? Montalbano is now one of my favorite fictional characters.

A story about "The Paris Review Book for Planes, Trains, Elevators, and Waiting Rooms" — 3 years ago

Nice collection. I’ve read a few of them, and enjoyed them. (As usual for me, I’ve passed on the poetry, for the most part.)

A story about "Acqua Alta" — 3 years ago

An OK read. Aside from the setting of Venice, and little observations on Italian culture, the book is a rather pedestrian procedural. One does not get to know Brunetti very well, at all. His character seems to be a vehicle for the plot. The same could be said, to some extent, about the other characters. Overall, the book lacks color. I much prefer Camilleri’s Montalbano books. I’m not sure I would read another of Leon’s books. At least, not a mystery.
