Nehi - excellent from the fountian — 5 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The taste is pretty robust and very flavorful, mild bite and creamy taste, with a strong vanilla aftertaste. I’m lucky that the cafe nearby has a fountain on tap, as its my favorite rootbeer to have with a meal.

middle of the road taste — 7 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I picked this out purely because of the bottle. it is beautifully done with the label’s design and some fancy foil-printing.

the taste is really smooth, rich and creamy, with a sweet aftertaste, the carbonation was pretty mellow and didn’t have much bite. I would be hard pressed to tell the difference between this and I.B.C. rootbeer to a blind taste test, which isn’t a bad thing, but I typically look for character and uniqueness in the taste of the smaller soda.

lemony&pulpy — 7 weeks ago

I only got to drink a small bottle of this and all I can think of was that it was not as tasty as orginia and a bit flat. I may revisit it again later when I can get a better sampling.

all fan-service — 8 weeks ago

Obviously for fan-service. Its nothing I’d suggest to a friend, well, maybe if I wanted to weird them out ;3. I had a half-hour to kill, and it wasn’t all that bad, for what it is, it delivered. I’d hate to admit it, but I think it was cute. lol.

Ramune is a super sweet soda — 8 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had my first taste of Ramune at an anime convention five years ago, where my inexperienced hands caused half of the drink to shoot out of the bottle and onto the floor (my opening ritual has since been perfected). The flavor of ramune hit my tongue with a kick of super sweet, exotic fruit flavor with a semi-flatness carbonation that I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not, I was more keen on finding out “what the heck did I just drink?”

The bottle design is what everyone notices first; the marble and the odd bubble shape of the bottle. Opening it up for the first time can be a bit frustrating and a little bit humiliating for the first timer. Just peel off the plastic wrap, unsnap the green cap/opener. and just slowly press on the top of the opener cap while increasing pressure until the marble slowly gives way until you feel the marble pop and clink to the bottom of the neck.

Ramune tastes like ramune. There is no other way to describe it with my american tastes. Super sugary with a sharp sweetness that overpowers you and leaves your mouth with little after taste. From which your taste buds beg for another sip. You have to be careful to drink it slow. not only are the bottles small (and they go fast), but chug it too quickly and you’ll soon be on the floor with one hell of a sugar bombed out mind.

It no longer has that otaku caché that it once had, any large supermarket in the USA stocks it now. It can be enjoyed at any time, rather than be an “anime convention” only treat.

Its flavor may not be for everyone (it is an acquired taste). I can’t drink this stuff every day or even once a month, but there are times when only a ramune will hit the spot for me.

Stewart's Rootbeer, its ok... — 10 weeks ago

if I were to rank this rootbeer, I’d place it below A&W and I.B.C. rootbeer. Its a conservative rootbeer. the first swig gives you that classic root beet taste, except much sweeter (kind of tastes like the hard-candy rootbeer barrels), but it goes away during the aftertaste, leaving a sweet, and uncharacteristic taste.

Its easy to drink, and very sweet, and its a nice rootbeer, but there’s nothing really remarkable about the drink.

Gales Rootbeer is sublime — 12 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The flavor is very smooth, it has very little bite, and the cinnamon & Ginger make for a really good combination that stands out from the other small micro-brew rootbeer companies out there.

Never pass up an opportunity to have one. Seeing Gale’s on the supermarkt shelf is a rare sight (central market is the only place in the city that carries Gale’s), so whenever they are in stock, I usually leave with a whole trunk-load.
