A story about "Thinking Big" — 7 weeks ago

My brother and I used to watch this all the time when we were little. We called it ‘Talking Bear’.

He recently bought it; I had forgotten all about it. What a riot. =)

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was a little hesitant to watch this movie, mainly because of the fact that it’s Keira Knightley and I usually don’t like her very much as an actress. But I watched it.

Several times. And it got me every time. The transition from summer perfection to wartime despair, that long, continous shot at Dunkirk, Briony’s conversation with the French soldier… It’s just plain beautiful. And the final scene in which Briony reveals the truth behind Robby & Cecilia’s fates always gets me all weepy.

I watch this when I already feel sad, because I guess I’m just the kind of person who likes to wallow in it. I would say this is a movie to watch if you’re prepared to be really affected.

WORTH CONSUMING!

To me the ultimate sign of a briliant movie is the mood in which it leaves you. This movie completely took my breath away.

The only thing I wish was that there had been at least some mention of her activities during WWII. That would have been nice.

(And Marion Cotillard absolutely deserved that academy award for this movie. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.)

A story about "Juno (Single-Disc Edition)" — 17 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

One of the reasons I watched this movie in the first place was the obvious originality of it, plot-wise. Juno isn’t the kind of girl you would expect to see get pregnant so young, and it’s refreshing to see a more realistic spin on the old ‘pregnant teen’ story. Although after a while, the ‘originality’ of it started to kind of rub at me the wrong way. It’s almost like Juno is too quirky. It wasn’t enough to keep me from enjoying the movie, just something that stuck out to me.

I’d reccomend this movie overall. It’s funny, it’s engaging, and it’s definitely memorable. Young girls, this is a great movie to watch with your parents! I saw Juno with my mother, and as we left the theater she kept remarking about how accepting and ‘cool’ Juno’s parents were. Great soundtrack as well.
