NOT WORTH CONSUMING

For such a pointless movie (with no message other than the one they beat you over the head with, which isn’t really that deep or meaningful in the first place), this movie wasn’t even enjoyable/fun!. I do like Sandra Bullock movies (While You Were Sleeping, 28 Days, etc) so it’s not just that these type of movies aren’t my cup of tea, I also enjoy dramas and the idea of time travel, etc. It just didn’t work. Partly it was that there wasn’t any entertaining bits in the middle, really. Also it might have been partly because Keanu Reeves sounded like a robot and didn’t really seem to have any chemistry with Sandra Bullock or even any charisma as a person. Gorgeous, maybe, but when he talks… =\ Their relationship seemed forced and silly. I wanted to like the movie, and maybe if it were a book or if they’d had more time it would have been better, because it was a little weak on details. For such a predictable plot (Really, who didn’t have it all figured out in the first few scenes of the movie?), there was too much time in foreshadowing and pointless sidetrips.

I guess I just lament that it wasn’t done differently because it could have been really good. Either it should have been more fun or more serious, but it wasn’t really either. And I didn’t even spend time trying to make it all “make sense!” (I was the one in the room going “Okay, let’s just suspend our disbelief for a minute…”)
