WORTH CONSUMING!

Out of the three Vonnegut books I have consumed, by far this book was my favorite. At first I wasn’t sure that I should read it since it didn’t seem very well celebrated, but I am now really glad that I did.

I was especially intrigued to find small appearances of Vonnegut’s characters (ex. Diana Moon Glampers) from his other works, interacting with the main character of this book. It makes me wonder if he’s commenting on how all human beings are exposed to the same things as one another in a lifetime, and how far just one item or thought can penetrate into the lives of the individual.

How "LARGE 15 Books in 1: L. Frank Baum's Original "Oz" Series. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Marvelous Land of Oz, Ozma of Oz, Dorothy and the Wizard in ... Of Oz, The Magic of Oz, and Glinda Of Oz" changed my life — 18 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Though I didn’t read this exact copy (I borrowed the books from the library when I was about 7 or 8), I love these books with all of my heart. I would absolutely love to buy the whole set to cherish forever.
L. Frank Baum is ingenious. These have really helped cultivate a creative mind (I hope), and a very active imagination.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The ending really needed the last chapter, but I applaud Kubrick for this masterpiece.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love the movie, and know someone who likes the movie more than the book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A beautiful book, almost made me cry, and was so heavy that it weighed down on my spirits, but was really worth it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

IMPORTANT!
“A Clockwork Orange” has 21 chapters. If the edition you are reading does not, DO NOT READ IT!!
The edition that I read had a preface of Anthony Burgess telling how the first publishers bought only 20 of his chapters, but it had 21 for a specific reason. After I finshed reading mine, I know how important the last chapter is. The movie doesn’t have closure because Kubrick’s copy didn’t have the last chapter.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I never finished it past a few chapters. I thought it was going to pick up right where Yossarian left off in Catch-22, but instead it takes me to him as a perverted old man.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first time I tried to read this, it was pure torture. I would only finish one paragraph before falling asleep, and had to drag myself through thte first two-thirds of the book. I couldn’t understand anything that they were saying, and if so, it was trivial.
But the last third of the book was so good! I was completely enraptured in suspense and I saw why it was such a great romance.

I re-read the whole book about a year later, and now I loved the whole thing, the beginning has subtle witticism and humour that I had not seen the first time I read it. If this is your first old english sort of book, I recommend doing what I did and dragging yourself through until you finish the whole thing. It is worth it.
