A story about "Taken" — 7 weeks ago
i was so excited to read this because i love this author’s other work, but this book seriously SUCKS.

i can’t even begin to describe how much this book sucks. everything about is is cliched and contrived and obnoxious and flat-out laughable. don’t read it.
The best part of this book was that I didn’t THINK it would be any good at all, and then it was amazing. I love when that happens.
I was inspired to read this by the John Green book Looking for Alaska, but it was disappointing.
All the monologues were a bit awkward, but I think it mostly worked. And Jack Black is hysterical. But since I positively adore the book, the film couldn’t quite compare. I think the change of settings (London, 1995 to Chicago, 2000) kind of ruined the atmosphere. John Cusack is kind of sweet and endearing in this, though.
So did anyone ELSE cry in about 10 different scenes???
I liked it, but not quite as much as the TV show, which I am ADDICTED to. I don’t know, maybe it’s just because I saw the show first and it’s more modern and the boys are cuter. The show and the movie have a similar feel though, with the handheld videotaping, the choppy scenes, and the soundtrack by the same band, Explosions in the Sky. Good movie, WAY better than the book.
did anyone else actually go through and highlight things, or am i just a dork?
i was in paris a couple weeks ago and now i have a strange urge to watch this movie again.
Anyone else at the premiere in Grand Rapids on July 10th? Ahhhhhhhh that was so great.
