WORTH CONSUMING!

Jeff Coffin is best known as the saxophonist for Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones, but he’s maintained a steady stream of independent releases. Mutopia is his second release this year and sounds like one fun jam session after another. Collaboration is key to the release; the list of collaborators is impressive. Coffin defines “Mu’tet” as his “musical co-conspirators” and “Mutopia” as “a perfect moment of acknowledging, accepting and adapting to the changes we all experience throughout our lives.” Coffin’s Mu’tet has a laid back modern jazz fusion sound that’s perfect for hot summer nights, especially if you enjoy the jazz flute!
 acid-jazz
jam inspired by saxophonist Joe Henderson with dueling bass solos
Bela Fleck adds some banjo jazz flare!
tribute to trumpeter Lee Morgan and boogaloo jazz with scratches from Black Cat Sylvester
avant -garde piece inspired by Alice Coltrane, very mellow
amazing jazz flute with eastern influences
 hot soulful, bluesy number
sounds like New Orleans street parade
“Emma Ya” is a hidden reggae-ish tune
