Entertaining but... — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

...the acting wasn’t great, not even by Denzel Washington. Perhaps due to a poor script, though. The premise and plot were too far-fetched for my taste.

WORTH CONSUMING!

An excellent film and story about a man’s fight, or lack of, to move on after the tragic loss of his wife and children. A story of friendship and much more.

A shit review, but I’m still wiping away the tears.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Luc Besson creates an imaginative and surreal world beneath the streets of Paris – in the Métro. Coupled with the music of Eric Serra (Besson’s fetish composer), an amazing and captivating atmosphere is created throughout the film.

WORTH CONSUMING!

France’s cult version of the 80s teen film. It was good, but I think it would have helped to be 12 or 13 years old.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I wanted to add an entry to correct the ‘not worth it’ that ended up in my feeds by mistake. This film was very much worth it! An excellent mystery.

After 15 years without contact, members of a French resistance network during World War II re-unite to learn that there was a traitor among them who had informed the Gestapo of their location resulting in the death of their leader. Everyone had a motive. Everyone is a suspect. Just when you think they’ve uncovered the traitor, more secrets are revealed to absolve them. It keeps you guessing until the end.

WORTH CONSUMING!

As my other entry says for this, I did finish The Big Sleep. Despite having started the second novelette, I didn’t finsih it. I lost the book on a plane somewhere. I hate losing things! I might get this again anyway and finish the other two stories. I was loving them! But in any case, I’ll mark it as completed.

It’s my dad’s and I left it at my parents’ place.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve finished the first novel in the book, The Big Sleep. This is the first Raymond Chandler book I’ve read and I find his style amazing. The descriptions and similes are excellent. Occasionally, I had to re-read, stop and think about the connections. One word describes the main character, Philip Marlow: attitude. He’s got a Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca style except a bit harder and even better one-liners: “I was neat, clean shaved and sober, and I didn’t care who knew it.”

I’ve started reading the second novel in the book, Farewell, My Lovely, which starts even stronger than the last one.
