MontenegroThe Baltic nation of Montenegro has been growing increasingly popular for its tourist attractions in recent years.  What the young nation lacks in size, it makes up with its beauty. And with picturesque sights to behold throughout the land, there also come plateaus and beaches which call for the daredevil in all of us, activities to heighten our senses.  Montenegro houses landscapes, mountains, rivers and particularly beaches, which cater to adventure junkies. Here are seven activities with which you can get your blood pumping:

Hiking and Biking

Montenegro has a host of scenic routes open to cycling and sight seeing enthusiasts. Whether it’s soaking in the warmth of the sun overlooking the mountain vistas of Durmitor National Parks or the interlacing circuits following the lakes of Biogradska Gora, Montenegro offer both passages, both of which are memorable, scenic and not to mention easy. However the Vrmac Ridge which provides incredible vistas to ogle over is not an easy route by any means but is still worth the journey to The Historical Kotor.  The hiker in you needs to be wary of the terrains of the mountains of Montenegro and hiking needs preparation in the form of sturdy shoes and plenty of water. The karstic nature of the mountains, the sudden storms and changes in temperature are all exciting the adrenaline junkie but is not for the faintest of hearts.

Kayaking

It is usually tough to travel to Montenegro, and you will probably need help. However, if you somehow made your way, you definitely have to try Kayaking! Affordability of Kayak rides and ease of access to them means that it would be wrong to rob yourself of the opportunity to make it down stream to locations as breathtaking as the Blue Grotto. Both the Bay of Kotor and Lake Skadar are wonderful locations to start your journey from all leading into the beautiful blue surrounding the small nation of Montenegro.

Canyoning

Canyoningdoesn’t come so easily since it is safest in the company of experienced guides and in July and August.  However those in the know will tell you about the beautiful Nevidio Canyon, the name of which is an ode to the enclosed nature of the gorge itself.

Night Life and Partying

Montenegro is still not a well known party destination but once you step into Budva- the Old Town, you’ll realize that it is possibly Montenegro’s best kept secret. The bars were as lively as the biggest party capitals of the world, the music scene as vibrant as can be, the night life of Montenegro leaves nothing left for desire with feasts and parties leading into the wee hours of the morning. One of the mega clubs up on Budva known as “Top Hill”, can house over a thousand people easily, plays quality house music and offers drinks at an affordable rate, so if you’re looking for a party you know which part of town to hit first. Budva is the center of Montenegrin tourism and it is only thirty minutes away from The Historic Kotor. While the experiences to be had at the fancy clubs and hotel are a stark contrast to what the natural beauty of Montenegro has to offer, it still boasts a thrilling night life, an experience worth having.

Zip Lining and High Rope Courses

The Durdevica Bridge found on route to Durmitor allows visitors to take part in Zip Lining and River Rafting. While it doesn’t take too long, roughly 15 to 20 minutes to visit, people stay back for the experience of Zip lining. Visitors can also Zip line while overlooking the treacherous Tara river. Apart from Zip Lining, High Rope Courses have been set up at IvanovaKorita in Lovćen National Park and by the Black Lake in Durmitor National Park.

Tandem Paragliding

For the most unforgettable and most thrilling experience of your trip to Montenegro, you can’t go past paragliding from the mountains down to Bečići Beach. Montenegro adventure center is one of the most reputable operators in the country.

Skiing

With December comes snowfall and out comes the skiers, hitting the slopes of Durmitor and Kolašin till April rolls in.The cost of skiing in Montenegro is a fantastic trade-off, costing only 20 euros per trip making it quite an alluring chance that you should not miss out on. Although Kolasin has better facilities, Durmitor is the more reliable destination for tourists.

With the rate of increase in tourist attractions and activities Montenegro is slowly on its way to becoming a hotspot for thrills and wonderful experiences in Europe. So perhaps this is the perfect time to reap the benefits of this rich land.
